On 20 March 2026, Ocean Winds and the Arven South board decided to hand back to Crown Estate Scotland the ScotWind lease option for the 500 MW Arven South floating offshore wind site about 22 km east of Bressay, citing lack of a viable grid connection, unfavourable transmission charging and strong local stakeholder concerns, particularly from the fishing industry, while continuing development of the 1.8 GW Arven site.
