Planning Consent Awarded

Arven Offshore Wind Farm anticipates securing its main project consents in 2027, following the submission of consent applications and Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) planned for 2026. The February 2024 Project Summary sets out a development timeline in which 2027 is explicitly marked as the “Award of project consents,” indicating this as the target year for core development approvals needed to move from early development into the pre-construction phase. These projected consents follow earlier milestones, including offshore and onshore scoping work in 2024 and 2025 respectively, and are framed as key prerequisites to the project’s first phase of construction in the early 2030s and commencement of operation in the mid‑2030s. As planning authority for Scotland’s seas, the Scottish Government’s Marine Directorate is responsible for determining offshore wind farm consent applications, in consultation with local planning authorities and other consultees. Project documentation explains that the consents package for Arven will include Section 36 consent and associated Marine Licences, informed by an Environmental Impact Assessment process and supported by Environmental Impact Assessment Reports. The Offshore Scoping Report is submitted to Scottish Ministers to obtain a scoping opinion that shapes the EIARs, which in turn support the Marine Licence and Section 36 consent applications. The anticipated award of these project consents in 2027 is therefore a pivotal regulatory milestone for Arven. It would confirm that Scottish Ministers, acting through the Marine Directorate and other relevant authorities, have granted the necessary project-level approvals to enable Arven to proceed towards detailed design, financing, and eventual construction in line with the indicative early‑2030s build schedule.
