Arkona reached full commercial operation in April 2019, when the 60‑turbine, 385MW offshore wind farm was fully commissioned and officially opened, marking the start of long‑term operation supplying renewable power to roughly 400,000 German households and avoiding about 1.2 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. The inauguration and opening ceremony, held on 16 April 2019 with German and Norwegian representatives, followed completion of construction and commissioning activities begun in 2016.
