"Germany’s E.ON Netz has awarded Prysmian a contract for the supply of cables that will connect the Alpha Ventus offshore wind farm to the German mainland... Prysmian will design and manufacture 66 km of a 110 kV submarine cable system plus accessories, including joints, terminations and testing services."
E.ON Netz awarded Prysmian a contract to provide the export cable system connecting the alpha ventus offshore wind farm to the German mainland grid. Under this contract Prysmian designed and manufactured approximately 66 km of a 110 kV three-core HVAC submarine power cable system, including associated accessories such as joints and terminations, and performed related testing and commissioning services. The cable runs from the offshore wind farm towards the German coast, forming the first offshore grid connection in Germany and enabling transmission of the 60 MW output of alpha ventus into the onshore network. Cable delivery was scheduled by the end of June 2008 with completion of service activities, including jointing, termination and testing, by the end of September 2008.
