An underwater cable that transmits power from the Alpha Ventus offshore transformer station to the power grid was laid in 2008, with NSW Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke supplying and laying the sea cables.
NSW Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke, now part of Nexans, participated in the construction of the Alpha Ventus grid connection by supplying and installing the subsea power cables described as the underwater cable transmitting electricity from the offshore transformer station to the German power grid. NSW/Nexans provided the sea cables and carried out their offshore laying, forming the export link between the Alpha Ventus offshore substation and the onshore network. This role covered manufacture and marine installation of the HVAC sea cable system during the 2008 construction campaign.
