In February 2008, baseline marine mammal surveying began at the alpha ventus site as part of pre-construction environmental monitoring. These surveys, conducted two years before construction, used methods such as aerial and vessel-based observations and passive acoustic monitoring to characterise marine mammal presence around the planned wind farm.
