In September 2005, the German OFFSHORE WIND ENERGY Foundation acquired the project rights to the offshore wind project originally known as Borkum West, which later became the alpha ventus offshore wind farm. This transaction transferred control of the project development rights in the German North Sea to the Foundation, positioning it to steer the permitting and early development process.
