On 21 May 2025, the EWE–RWE–Vattenfall consortium operating alpha ventus decided to decommission Germany’s first offshore wind farm and announced that, over the coming years, it will work closely with the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) and within the RAVE research initiative to develop an environmentally friendly dismantling concept for the 12 turbines and the offshore substation, with a strong focus on marine protection and component recycling.
