At the Alpha Ventus offshore wind farm in the German Bight, the first six 5 MW turbines became operational in August 2009, marking the start of power production and export via TenneT’s AC grid connection to the German transmission network. This initial operation demonstrated that offshore-generated electricity from Alpha Ventus could be fed into the German grid for the first time, ahead of full farm commissioning in 2010.
