The laying of the approximately 60‑kilometre export subsea cable connecting the Alpha Ventus offshore substation to the German onshore grid was completed in spring 2009, following the earlier installation of the offshore substation and enabling transmission of power from the wind farm via Norderney to the mainland substation at Hagermarsch/Diele.
