In 2014, Kraftnät Åland brought the new 110 kV substation Tellholm into service, installing five 110 kV switchgear positions. The substation, located adjacent to the existing Tingsbacka substation, is intended to serve as the new point through which electricity imports from Sweden are routed following grid modernisation, forming a key onshore node for the Åland–Sweden AC interconnector.
