IPTO completed the upgrade of the Aktio–Preveza 150 kV underwater and underground high‑voltage cable interconnection and, as of 10 September 2023, the new three‑pole AC copper cable (200 MVA, ~7 km with integrated optical fibres) became fully operational, replacing the obsolete link that had supplied Preveza’s industrial area for at least three decades and enhancing transmission capacity and supply security in Western Greece and the Ionian Islands.
For the 150 kV Aktio–Preveza / Achladi–Evia power interconnection in Greece, NKT Cables is listed as the cable supplier for client PPC, indicating that NKT was contracted to provide the power cable used on the project, with related offshore landing and protection works executed in 1998.
