Wintershall Dea Norge (WDNO) is the Norwegian exploration and production subsidiary of the Wintershall Dea Group, focused on upstream gas and oil activities and carbon management on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Based in Stavanger, it has been active offshore Norway for more than 50 years and is involved across the upstream value chain in exploration, appraisal, development of discovered resources, and the production and sale of hydrocarbons. WDNO is among the leading oil and gas companies in Norway and operates four producing subsea tie‑back fields – Dvalin, Maria, Nova and Vega – developed using subsea templates tied into existing nearby infrastructure. It also participates as a license partner in major fields including Skarv, Aasta Hansteen, Edvard Grieg, Gjøa, Njord, Bauge, Snorre and Snøhvit, giving it a diversified portfolio in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea. The company has led major development projects such as Dvalin North and Maria Phase 2, and partners in Skarv satellite developments Idun Nord and Alve Nord, the Njord and Snøhvit electrification projects, and the Irpa and Solveig Phase 2 developments.
Building on its subsea tie‑back expertise, WDNO aims to further develop a gas‑weighted, low‑carbon portfolio in its core areas. It also holds and operates two carbon capture and storage licenses in the Norwegian North Sea, Luna and Havstjerne, integrating CCS into its Norwegian business. WDNO employs around 400 people and consultants, mainly onshore in Stavanger, and works with more than 1,500 suppliers worldwide providing drilling rigs and related services, exploration and production software and studies, well construction and completion services, subsea production and SURF, engineering, maintenance and modification services, logistics, consultancy and other business support.
