Transmission Investment

Transmission Investment is an energy and utility investment and advisory business focused on electricity transmission infrastructure in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2009, it develops, acquires and manages regulated transmission assets, with core activities in competitive onshore transmission, offshore wind transmission and interconnectors. The firm combines technical, procurement, commercial, financial and regulatory capabilities to originate, structure and deliver large-scale, complex utility infrastructure projects. It develops, procures, constructs, owns and operates electricity assets and also provides development and advisory services to third parties, including site and grid connection selection, transmission grid connections, property rights acquisition, planning and environmental work, regulatory and financial structuring, operational design, cost benchmarking and asset acquisition due diligence. Transmission Investment is described as one of the UK’s largest players in the offshore electricity transmission sector, with approximately £3 billion of assets under management in its portfolio of Offshore Transmission (OFTO) assets and an established track record of bidding for, winning and operating OFTO licences through a consortium with Amber Infrastructure and International Public Partnerships. It is also a leading UK developer of subsea interconnector projects, including the FAB Link and LirIC projects that are intended to connect Great Britain with France and Northern Ireland via new HVDC interconnectors with an aggregate capacity of about 2 GW. In 2025 the company became part of TAQA Transmission, the TAQA Group subsidiary for high-voltage transmission in the United Arab Emirates, providing Transmission Investment with backing to expand its role in developing the UK transmission system in support of the energy transition. The acquisition brought a well-established team of more than 40 full-time employees with end-to-end technical and development capabilities, and the business has been recognised as a Great Place to Work and holds a “We invest in people” Silver accreditation.
