Transmission Capital, operating through Transmission Capital Partners (TCP), is an originator, sponsor and asset manager focused on electricity transmission infrastructure, with particular emphasis on UK offshore renewable energy. The business is structured as Transmission Capital Partners Limited Partnership with Transmission Capital Partners GP Limited as general partner, and is a joint venture between Amber Infrastructure Limited and Transmission Investment. TCP’s team combines in‑depth financial, technical and regulatory expertise in European transmission and has a proven investment manager track record. In the UK it is described as a proven market leader in offshore electricity transmission and an established participant across the wider transmission sector, where its remit covers all forms of transmission but it is currently especially active in offshore renewables.
TCP serves institutional investors by managing the acquisition and development of transmission projects and by providing long‑term asset management. Its managed portfolio is one of the largest offshore electricity transmission portfolios, including the connections to multiple UK offshore wind farms. For example, its Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) interests include the Robin Rigg, Gunfleet Sands, Barrow, Ormonde, Lincs and Westermost Rough projects, with a portfolio in excess of 1,000 MW of connected offshore wind capacity and around £800 million of capital employed. TCP also took over the Dudgeon OFTO in November 2018, with TC Dudgeon OFTO plc owning the Dudgeon transmission assets and contracting Dudgeon Offshore Wind Limited as O&M provider.
Investment and asset management for TCP’s UK OFTOs is undertaken by its wholly owned subsidiary, Transmission Capital Services Limited, which manages subcontracted service providers, oversees health and safety systems and seeks to maximise long‑term asset availability while minimising whole‑life costs. TCP is closely aligned with International Public Partnerships Limited (INPP), on whose behalf it manages several OFTO assets, and regularly engages with Ofgem and wider industry groups on competitive transmission frameworks, including offshore coordination, the SPV model and Pathway to 2030 reforms.
