TERNA S.A. is the construction arm of the GEK TERNA Group, a large Greek conglomerate active in construction, concessions and energy. Established in 1972 and based in Athens, it operates as the Group’s main engineering and contracting company, delivering complex public and private infrastructure projects in Greece and abroad. The company has built extensive railway and highway networks, high‑specification office buildings, hospitals, museums, resorts, industrial facilities, harbours, hydroelectric plants and dams, positioning it across transport, social infrastructure, industrial and energy sectors.
Within the energy value chain TERNA S.A. focuses on power‑sector civil works and balance‑of‑plant construction. It constructs hydroelectric plants and dams and supports grid and interconnection projects, such as its role in the Attica–Crete HVDC link, where in consortium with Siemens Energy it is responsible for high‑voltage distribution systems, all civil works and erection of equipment for two converter stations connecting Crete with mainland Greece. TERNA S.A. also executes renewable‑energy related EPC contracts for its sister company TERNA ENERGY, including the design, procurement and construction of a 130 MW photovoltaic plant in the Vratitsa area of Burgas, Bulgaria. Through these activities, the company contributes to Greece’s grid reinforcement, cross‑island interconnection and the development of large‑scale renewable capacity in Southeastern Europe while maintaining a diversified portfolio of transport, building and industrial projects internationally.
