About
Litgrid AB is Lithuania’s electricity transmission system operator responsible for managing the country’s high‑voltage power grid and national power balance. Incorporated in 2010 and headquartered in Vilnius, the state‑owned company is listed on Nasdaq Vilnius under the ticker LGD1L and is 97.5% owned via the EPSO‑G holding company under the Ministry of Energy. Litgrid operates more than 7,000 km of overhead lines, over 200 transformer substations and 17 interconnections with neighbouring countries, serving transmission network users as well as electricity producers and suppliers in Lithuania and, through cross‑border links, internationally. Its regulated services cover electricity transmission, trading in balancing, regulating and reserving power, capacity reserve services, system balancing, public interest services, provision of guarantees of origin and grid connection services for market participants.
The company plays a central role in integrating Lithuania’s power system into the European electricity infrastructure and common market. Litgrid developed and operates the NordBalt (Lithuania–Sweden) and LitPol Link (Lithuania–Poland) interconnectors and is implementing the Harmony Link HVDC project to further increase capacity with the continental European grid. It leads a portfolio of 14 nationally significant synchronisation projects, including major internal network reinforcements, a new system control and data centre and the reconstruction of key 330 kV lines such as Aizkrauklė–Panevėžys. Litgrid maintains active participation in ENTSO‑E and supports renewable energy integration through a dedicated Centre for Renewables, studies on joint management of hydroelectric and battery storage assets, and testing of accumulator technologies. The company employs several hundred professionals in power system operations, engineering and project management, and positions grid reliability, efficiency and green infrastructure investment as core strategic priorities.
