JD-Contractor A/S is a Danish subsea contractor that has evolved from a local commercial diving company founded in 1972 into a full-scale offshore business focused on subsea construction and infrastructure. The company provides installation and repair of subsea power and communication cables and pipelines, subsea construction, maintenance and repair, salvage, decommissioning and environmental clean-up, as well as subsea survey and inspection, UXO search and clearance, marine archaeology, offshore diving and ROV operations, and chartering of vessels and specialised tools. It operates primarily in Northern Europe within offshore renewables, electrical power transmission, utilities and marine infrastructure, delivering both subcontracted work and full turnkey contracts, for example installing power cables for Danish and international TSOs such as Energinet, including the Øresund 2 400 kV interconnection between Denmark and Sweden.
JD-Contractor’s operations are organised around a fleet and multi-base setup. The fleet comprises 14 large offshore and construction vessels with permanent crews plus multiple smaller vessels and barges, including cable-laying barges, DP2 installation vessels, DP1 multipurpose vessels, offshore and inshore diving vessels, survey vessels and excavation units. As part of its sustainability strategy, the company is upcycling former offshore oil and gas vessels such as Viking Vanquish and Maersk Detector into the C-Installer and Detector for offshore renewables and subsea construction work. JD-Contractor maintains a main base and extensive workshops in Holstebro, eastern and western fleet bases in Kalundborg and Thyborøn, and an international sales and project management office in Copenhagen. The Western base in Thyborøn functions as a North Sea hub for ROV, PLGR and route clearance operations, mobilisation and service, aimed at shortening sailing and transport distances, lowering costs and reducing CO₂ emissions while supporting extensive project activity in the North Sea, Norway, the UK and Scotland. The family-owned company is a subsidiary of G.N. Underwater Invest A/S and works worldwide from its Danish bases.
