Getlink (Groupe Eurotunnel)

Getlink SE, formerly Groupe Eurotunnel, is a European public company based in Paris that manages and operates the Channel Tunnel infrastructure between the United Kingdom and continental Europe. Through its Eurotunnel subsidiary it operates the LeShuttle services, running shuttle trains that carry passenger vehicles, coaches and heavy trucks between terminals at Folkestone and Calais; these operations account for nearly 70% of group revenue. Getlink also manages the rail network within the tunnel that is used by high‑speed passenger trains such as Eurostar and by other rail freight operators, levying access charges on these services. The group reports handling around 21 million passengers per year and generated approximately €1.6 billion in revenue in 2025. Beyond shuttle operations, Getlink is active in rail freight, energy transmission and customs services. Its Europorte subsidiary is a leading private rail freight operator in France, running cross‑Channel and domestic freight trains and managing rail infrastructure such as the Port of Dunkirk’s network. Through ElecLink, a 1,000 MW high‑voltage direct current interconnector running through the Channel Tunnel, Getlink facilitates electricity exchange between Great Britain and France and participates in cross‑border energy trading. The group also offers customs support via Getlink Customs Services, helping carriers and shippers complete formalities around the UK‑EU border, and includes CIFFCO, a private European railway training centre. Getlink states that it is a low‑carbon transport operator, reporting a 96% “decarbonised margin rate” and positioning its strategy around combining financial and climate performance, including investments such as a major STATCOM installation to increase high‑speed rail capacity and an extensive solar programme at its Coquelles terminal.
