G.E.O.S. Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH is an internationally operating, medium-sized engineering company based in Saxony, Germany, with almost 150 years of history in geological services. Its core activities focus on geology, raw materials management and geotechnical services, complemented by consulting in energy and environmental fields. The company applies modern analytical and planning methods to address both legacy mining issues and forward-looking infrastructure and resource projects. G.E.O.S. supports future-oriented energy infrastructure through services such as planning and supervisory work for the NordLink overland cable route and geotechnical planning for the sustainable use of former mining landscapes, including rehabilitation of mine dumps in coalfields. It plays an active role in raw materials development, conducting due diligence and geological work for lithium exploration projects in Austria and prospecting and development of the Zinnwald lithium (tin-tungsten) deposit. The firm contributes to water and environmental management, for example by identifying pollution sources in old mining areas and implementing measures under the European Water Framework Directive in Saxony and the German Ore Mountains. The company is engaged in international environmental remediation and safety projects, including remediation of uranium mining legacies in Kyrgyzstan and specialist training to assess radiological risks for rebuilding Ukraine. It participates in EU research initiatives such as the TERRAVISION project, which aims to improve raw material extraction and sustainable mining value chains, and undertakes knowledge transfer activities like lidar-based landslide prediction training at the University of Kathmandu. G.E.O.S. employs around 170 specialists who collectively complete about 500 projects per year for more than 1,300 customers, reflecting substantial interdisciplinary capacity in geology, geotechnics, environmental engineering and resource-related consulting.
