DEA Norge AS

DEA Norge AS, referred to in various official and industry sources under related names such as RWE Dea Norge AS and Wintershall Dea Norge, is a Norwegian upstream oil and gas company focused on exploration and production of natural gas and crude oil on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Earlier descriptions of RWE Dea Norge present the company as an integrated oil and gas business founded in 1988 and headquartered in Oslo, while later sources place its registered office in Stavanger at Jåttåflaten 27. Bloomberg identifies DEA Norge / RWE Dea Norge as providing seismic surveys, deep sea drilling, production testing, pumping and processing services, and operating throughout Norway. In 2015, DEA Norge completed a USD 1.6 billion acquisition of E&P Norge from E.ON, gaining extraction licences in the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea and increasing its Norwegian oil production to about 75,000 barrels per day. DEA Norge is described as part of the German group DEA Deutsche Erdoel, itself owned by LetterOne. Following the 2019 merger of Wintershall Holding and DEA Deutsche Erdoel into Wintershall Dea and the subsequent transfer of Wintershall Dea’s international E&P portfolio to Harbour Energy, the Norwegian business is described as Wintershall Dea Norway and, more recently, as Harbour Energy’s Norway unit.
