Atos Worldgrid is an energy‑focused consulting and engineering business originating within the Atos group and headquartered in Bezons, France, with additional legal entities and operations in countries including Spain, China and Italy. Created as a distinct legal entity in France in 2010, it consolidates Atos’ long‑standing expertise in the energy and utilities sector built over more than three decades. In 2024 Atos agreed to sell the Worldgrid business unit to ALTEN, and the transaction closed in December 2024. At closing, Worldgrid employed close to 1,100 people, generated around €170 million of revenue in 2023 and operated mainly in France, Germany and Spain, serving a diverse and longstanding client base of energy and utility companies.
Worldgrid focuses on smart energy solutions spanning energy production, transmission, distribution and retail. It works at the intersection of information technology and operational technology, delivering “end‑to‑end intelligence from the meter to the manager” and providing real‑time data, control and supervision capabilities for utilities. Its activities cover smart metering and smart grid systems, large‑scale meter data management platforms, and ICT energy systems that support distributed energy resources, virtual power plants, building energy management, electric‑vehicle charging, and monitoring and control of smart water and gas infrastructures. The portfolio includes process consulting and implementation services, notably through subsidiaries such as ENERGY4U GmbH in Germany, which provides process consulting, machine learning, KPI management and implementation of SAP for Utilities, S/4HANA and related SAP cloud solutions for utility clients. Historically, Atos Worldgrid has deployed teams of more than 1,000 engineers to deliver integrated, long‑lifecycle solutions aimed at improving operational performance, enabling more automated, data‑driven utility operations and supporting the sector’s transition toward secure, low‑carbon energy systems.
