Asso.subsea Ltd. is a subsea utilities installation contractor and the technical and engineering division of the Greek‑owned ASSO Group of Companies. Active in offshore and nearshore activities since 1976 and focused on cables since 1985, it delivers turnkey and subcontracting solutions worldwide for submarine power and telecommunications infrastructure. The company specialises in submarine cable installation, protection, repair, and support operations, including export and inter‑array systems for offshore wind farms, subsea interconnectors, and island grid links. Its services cover engineering, cable loading and transportation, route preparation, seabed preparation, trenching and burial, backfilling, horizontal directional drilling at landfalls, and inspection, maintenance, and repair. Clients include major TSOs, offshore wind developers, telecom operators, and submarine cable manufacturers such as Hellenic Cables, Nexans, NKT, Prysmian Group, ZTT, Vattenfall, RWE, and Terna.
Operationally, Asso.subsea is built around an in‑house marine division and a fleet of specialised vessels, including DP cable‑laying vessels Ariadne and Atalanti, trenching support vessels Athena, Argo, and Aethra, and multipurpose support units such as Artemis, Astrea, Alcyone, and Hydna. The group employs more than 900 professionals and crews its offshore fleet with around 250 seafarers. It designs and builds proprietary trenching and burial tools, including the AssoTrencher series and AssoJet jetting ROVs; for the Fécamp offshore wind farm it developed AssoTrencher IV Mk13 with backfilling that reuses excavated material to support environmentally focused seabed reinstatement. Recent projects include floating wind pilots such as Provence Grand Large and EolMed in France, large offshore wind inter‑array and export scopes, and major interconnections in the Mediterranean and North Sea. The company is investing in next‑generation DP trenching support vessels Avra and Andromeda and the cable‑laying vessel Althea, featuring hybrid power and alternative‑fuel readiness, and operates under ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications with IMCA membership and dedicated QHSE policies.
