Damco Energy S.A. is a Greek company of the Copelouzos Group that develops, designs, constructs and operates energy and other infrastructure assets, with additional activities in telecommunication and transportation infrastructure. Based in Maroussi, Athens, it undertakes technical and economic feasibility studies, provides consultancy services and trades electromechanical equipment, machinery and various types of vehicles. Within the infrastructure value chain it acts as a developer, EPC contractor and O&M provider across energy and related sectors.
The company plays a central role in large-scale thermal power generation projects. Damco Energy originated the Alexandroupolis natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant through its wholly owned project company Ilektroparagogi Alexandroupolis Single Person S.A., later bringing in Public Power Corporation (PPC) and DEPA Commercial as majority partners. The 840 MW plant, for which Damco is the nominated EPC contractor, will be directly connected to Gastrade’s FSRU in Alexandroupolis and is designed for hydrogen-capable, high-efficiency operation, supporting Greek and regional energy security and the replacement of lignite capacity.
Through Damco Energy, the Copelouzos Group also has a long-standing business in generating sets. The company supplies turnkey power generating units to PPC and industrial clients, maintains a large fleet of diesel and gas units on numerous Greek islands and provides full rental solutions, including transport, installation, operation, maintenance and decommissioning. It has delivered base-load and peak-load capacity at Megalopolis and island stations such as Rhodes, Crete, Santorini, Paros, Mykonos, Kos and Lesvos, as well as emergency capacity in Cyprus. Since 2021, Damco Energy has operated under a certified management system compliant with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
