Designer Group is an international mechanical, electrical and instrumentation (MEP) engineering contractor established in Ireland in 1992. Headquartered in Dublin, it provides design and installation services from concept to completion for commercial and industrial clients, with operations across Ireland, the UK, mainland Europe, Africa and South America. The group delivers high‑voltage electrical systems, control and instrumentation, HVAC, ventilation and life‑safety infrastructure, and integrates smart building technologies to support energy‑efficient offices and buildings targeting standards such as BREEAM, LEED and WiredScore Platinum.
The company’s work spans data centres, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, manufacturing, commercial offices, education, healthcare, residential, public sector infrastructure and aviation. Notable projects include a 36 MW data centre in Oslo powered by 100% renewable energy, campus buildings at Grangegorman for Technological University Dublin, the State Forensic Laboratories in Celbridge, biomass power plants in Kenya and Uganda, a large solar project in Kenya, the Echelon DUB10 energy centre and Ireland’s first net zero‑carbon office, as well as work for clients such as Yahoo, Dropbox, Irish Life, Bristol Myers Squibb, Kennedy Wilson and IPUT. The group also undertakes associated electrical infrastructure such as substations in Belgium and data centre energy facilities in Austria, and has delivered around 20 renewable projects across six African countries over a decade.
Designer Group employs more than 1,200 people in ten countries, including over 100 apprentices, supported by an in‑house Training Academy and a €10m, 4,000 m² modular manufacturing facility in Kells, Co Meath for off‑site prefabrication. It operates a facilities management joint venture with Sisk in Ireland and reported revenue of about €310m in the year to March 2024. Strategic programmes such as “Engineering Our Future” and “Strategy 2025” emphasise operational improvement, digital delivery, leadership development and sustainability, including plans to decarbonise its own operations and vehicle fleet while helping clients achieve net zero carbon goals.
