Skandi Connector is a 2016-built Damen-designed cable layer with 7,000 t cable carrying capacity, DP2 dynamic positioning, and a flat-bottomed hull optimised for shallow coastal waters. Originally part of the DOF Subsea fleet, on 14 May 2026 DOF announced the sale to South Korean cable manufacturer Taihan Cable & Solution for KRW 115.4 billion, with delivery to Korea scheduled for around 15 August 2026. The acquisition gives Taihan a second CLV alongside the smaller PALOS and is positioned as the installation pillar of its subsea cable vertical-integration strategy. Following handover, Taihan plans to deploy the vessel on export-cable installation, long-distance grid interconnection, and HVDC subsea grid construction; primary markets are expected to be Korea and broader Asia, paired with the new Subsea Cable Plant No. 1 at Dangjin.
