On 28 September 2015, the BSH issued the SeeAnlV Änderungsgenehmigung to Iberdrola Renovables Offshore Deutschland GmbH for the revised Wikinger offshore wind farm layout, reducing the consented turbine count from 80 (original Ventotec Ost 2 Genehmigung of 16 May 2007) to 70 Adwen AD 5-135 turbines (350 MW total) on jacket foundations. The amendment locked in the as-built configuration; construction began in March 2016, the offshore substation "Andalucía" was installed in August 2016, and the wind farm entered trial operation on 29 December 2017.
