On 22 February 2024, TuNur announced that its Tunisia–Malta export project — TuNur Malta — had been selected by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) for inclusion in the Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) 2024 under Project No. 1230. The TYNDP listing marks formal acknowledgement by Europe's transmission system operators of the project as a candidate cross-Mediterranean interconnector for evaluation in pan-European grid planning. The project comprises a dedicated HVDC submarine cable linking a planned 250 MW concentrated-solar-power complex with molten-salt storage at Rjim Maâtoug in southern Tunisia to a landing point in Malta, from which power is intended to reach mainland European markets via the existing Malta–Sicily interconnector. Inclusion in the TYNDP places TuNur Malta in ENTSO-E's structured review pipeline alongside other study-stage merchant and TSO-led projects, although it does not by itself confer Project of Common Interest status, financing, or regulatory approval.
