SSEN Transmission scheduled two public information events in Aberdeenshire on 27 and 28 May 2026 to present proposals for the Strathbogie Hub — a new 400 kV AC substation and HVDC converter station proposed to the north east of Huntly, forming the mainland end of the Shetland 2 HVDC Link. The site would provide the infrastructure needed to connect Shetland 2 into the wider GB transmission network, with an underground cable of approximately 30 km running from the Aberdeenshire coast to the hub. Events scheduled: Wednesday 27 May 2026, 3 to 7pm, Linden Centre, Castle Street, Huntly; Thursday 28 May 2026, 3 to 7pm, Scott Hall, Forgue. At each event SSEN Transmission will share details of the project and the site options currently under consideration, with attendees invited to speak directly with the project team and provide feedback to help inform the ongoing site selection and assessment process.
