RTE began onshore construction for the Saint-Nazaire grid connection in July 2018 with the launch of works to build the new 225 kV Prinquiau electrical substation, which will receive power from the offshore wind farm via the export cable and underground link. This marked the start of major permanent onshore infrastructure for connecting the project to the French transmission network.
