Fred. Olsen Windcarrier was responsible for the transportation and installation of the wind turbine units at the 496 MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France. The scope covered the full set of 62 Siemens Gamesa SG 8.0-167 DD turbines installed on jacket foundations at the offshore site located about 16 kilometres off the northwest coast of France in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc (English Channel). The work was executed under a contract signed with Siemens Gamesa in April 2022. Installation activities took place over an eight-month offshore campaign in 2023, following the installation of the first turbine in May. The final turbine was installed on 17 December 2023 by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up installation vessel Brave Tern, marking completion of turbine installation for the project. During the campaign, the installation vessel performed 18 rotations from the port of Le Havre, carrying components for three to four wind turbines per voyage. The turbines were reported as having been built at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy’s Le Havre facility before being transported offshore for installation at Saint-Brieuc.
