Forecast-purpose estimate, not extracted from source. Ireland's National Policy Statement on Electricity Interconnection (July 2023) lists "a connection to Belgium/Netherlands" as one of several future links to be tested against feasibility, alongside a stated aspiration of more than 5,000 MW total Irish interconnection capacity by 2033. The trilateral Ireland-Belgium-UK Joint Statement signed in Bruges on 15 May 2023 established a working group to report in H1 2025; that report is not yet publicly accessible. Applying a Celtic-Interconnector-class build cycle of approximately 11-12 years from intergovernmental agreement to COD gives 2035 as a conservative working estimate. No developer has been appointed; no route, capacity, voltage or timeline has been quantified by EirGrid, Elia, or the cooperating governments as of May 2026. Treat as forecast input with low confidence; supersede when the working group publishes a quantified timeline.
