Siemens Gamesa provided turbine operations and maintenance services to Eneco’s Princess Amalia Wind Farm (Prinses Amaliawindpark) under a five-year service agreement focused on drivetrain reliability. Under the contract, Siemens Gamesa was selected as the supplier to maintain and refurbish the gearboxes serving the wind farm’s 60 Vestas V80-2.0 MW turbines, supporting continued availability of the 120 MW offshore project located around 23 km off the coast of IJmuiden in the Netherlands. The work scope included an initial supply of up to four ZFEH804 gearboxes, delivered fully equipped with all auxiliaries, to support an exchange campaign. Following the first planned exchange campaign (expected in Q2 2018), removed gearboxes were to be transferred to Siemens Gamesa facilities for full refurbishment, with overhauled gearboxes then supplied back for subsequent exchange steps. Siemens Gamesa also committed a dedicated repair team to the programme, providing refurbishment capacity of up to four gearboxes within a 10-week period. The source stated that the refurbishment work was executed in Spain, leveraging Siemens Gamesa’s gearbox repair and manufacturing footprint and experience in heavy-duty wind turbine transmissions.
