MPI Contractors won a contract from Eneco Windmolens Offshore to provide offshore transport and lifting services in support of main component replacements at the Prinses Amaliawindpark offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. The wind farm is a 120 MW project located about 23 km off IJmuiden and comprises 60 Vestas 2 MW-class turbines that have been operational since 2008. MPI Contractors’ scope included offshore logistics and heavy-lift support for the exchange of major wind turbine components. The contract described replacement activities involving gearboxes, generators, transformers, blades and/or blade bearings, indicating a role supporting corrective maintenance and life-extension type interventions. The work programme was planned to commence on 1 January (following the 25 December 2017 announcement) and was structured as a five-year agreement with extension options of a further three and two years. MPI stated it would mobilise one of its wind turbine installation vessels (WTIVs) for two planned campaigns per year during the contract term. MPI Consultants, a related entity, was also described as responsible for the initial design and provision of sea fastenings and grillages, alongside engineering and project management elements supporting safe execution of the offshore lifting campaigns. No contract value was disclosed.
