Géophom was commissioned by the project’s contracting authorities, the French State and Réseau de Transport d’Electricité (RTE), to support the post-debate public consultation for the offshore wind project area off Charente-Maritime (Sud-Atlantique / Oléron). The mission covered the production of offshore wind photomontages intended to inform the public about the potential landscape and visual impacts associated with two illustrative, fictitious 1,000 MW wind farm layouts and an offshore electrical platform. The work involved developing a set of visualisations from six viewpoints selected at representative locations on the coast. The photomontages aimed to simulate, as realistically as possible, how turbines and the offshore electrical infrastructure could appear from shore, accounting for distance, atmospheric conditions and Earth curvature effects that can partially obscure structures at long range. The resulting photomontages were made available via an online viewer referenced by the prefecture. This role supported the environmental and landscape-impact assessment communication for the project during the development stage, helping stakeholders evaluate potential visual effects and supporting decision-making and dialogue around site selection and project design assumptions.
