DNV carried out an independent technical assessment of the Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee (OWEZ) offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea to support the owner’s application to extend the asset’s operating life. The wind farm, also known as NoordzeeWind, is located around 10–18 km off the coast near Egmond aan Zee and comprises 36 Vestas V90-3 MW turbines (108 MW total) installed on monopile foundations. The assessment was described as a thorough technical check conducted as part of the process to renew permits and demonstrate that the project remained technically compliant for continued operation beyond its original end-of-life assumptions. This independent review formed part of the evidence base used by the project owner in engagement with the Dutch government during the life-extension permitting process, which ultimately enabled continued operation through 2031. DNV’s role was advisory and assurance-based rather than supply or installation. The work supported operational decision-making and risk management by providing an independent viewpoint on asset condition and ongoing fitness for purpose, helping underpin the owner’s commitments to technical upgrades and continued compliance during the extended operating period.
