Bouwcombinatie Egmond (BCE), a partnership between Ballast Nedam and Vestas, carried out the construction works for the Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee (OWEZ) on behalf of the project company NoordzeeWind. BCE’s scope included the offshore construction activities associated with installing the wind farm’s support structures and wind turbine generators, supporting delivery of the Netherlands’ first major offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea, located 10–18 km off Egmond aan Zee. During the build-out, a heavy-lift vessel (Svanen) was used to drive/sink the steel foundation piles for the project’s monopile-supported turbines. BCE’s works also covered the offshore erection of the turbines using a floating crane, with the IJmondhaven (IJmuiden) utilised as a logistics and marshalling base due to its direct access to the sea. In addition to construction, the source states that BCE was responsible for the wind farm’s day-to-day operational management after completion. For database purposes, this role is captured as covering installation of the project’s monopile primary structures (36 units) and installation of the 36 turbines, together with ongoing operational services for the turbines during the operating phase.
