A2Sea provided offshore turbine installation services for the Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee (OWEZ) under contract to the Bouwcombinatie Egmond (BCE) EPC consortium, deploying its specialist installation vessel The Sea Energy. The OWEZ scope covered all 36 Vestas V90-3.0 MW turbines installed on monopile foundations 10-18 km off the Dutch coast in 2006. Per the OWEZ-R-141 General Report: "The tower, nacelle and blades were installed using an A2Sea installation vessel called The Sea Energy. During these works installation of MP's/TP's/J-tubes by the Svanen continued at other locations." The Sea Energy operated in parallel with the Svanen foundation installation vessel, with each performing its specialist scope at different parts of the wind farm simultaneously. Pre-assembly of the nacelle, hub, two blades, and the two-section tower with all internal cabling was done at the IJmondhaven quayside in IJmuiden harbour; The Sea Energy could carry two complete WTG assemblies (two nacelles with two blades each and two towers) per round trip, with each turbine installed by upending the tower onto the transition piece and bolting it down using the vessel's onboard crane. A2Sea (later acquired by GeoSea / DEME Group) was a Danish offshore wind installation pioneer; OWEZ was an early-portfolio engagement and one of the first European projects to demonstrate parallel monopile + WTG installation workflows.
