On 22 September 2025 Ofgem revoked the Electricity Interconnector Licence held by NU-Link Interconnector UK Ltd (UK Companies House 14373045) for the proposed 1.2 GW UK-Netherlands subsea interconnector at Mablethorpe. The revocation was requested by the developer in writing on 2 July 2025 and took effect at 00:01am on 22 September 2025. Ofgem confirmed that no infrastructure had been built, no licence agreements had been signed, and no adverse impact on consumers or energy security would result. The revocation followed Ofgem's November 2024 decision to reject NU-Link under its Third Cap and Floor Window on deliverability grounds. NU-Link Interconnector UK Ltd shares a registered office in Lighthorne, Warwickshire with Frontier Power International Limited, which subsequently retained the NESO connection contract at the same Mablethorpe 400 kV site (PRO-000981) and refiled the project under the new name SENECA.
