On 29 August 2023, Fugro announced it had been awarded two geotechnical investigation contracts by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) for the development of the Dutch Nederwiek offshore wind farm sites II and III (noord), which include the Nederwiek II project area. The contracts cover a combined 600 km² and involve collecting comprehensive seabed and subsurface Geo-data to support preliminary engineering design, future tenders, and related studies. Fugro will execute the work using its specialised fleet of advanced geotechnical vessels equipped for seabed testing and downhole drilling, including SEACALF Mk V Deepdrive for seabed cone penetration tests and WISON Mk V Ecodrive for downhole sampling and CPTs. Fieldwork under these contracts is scheduled to start in February 2024, with subsequent extensive laboratory testing in Fugro’s UK and Belgian laboratories and data delivery via its VirGeo cloud-based platform. This confirms the award of the site investigation procurement package for Nederwiek II (and III).
