On 19 May 2025, the Dutch government announced that, due to deteriorating market conditions and lower-than-expected electricity demand, it would postpone the IJmuiden Ver Gamma-A and Gamma-B offshore wind tenders and instead open a single-site tender for the 1 GW Nederwiek I-A site in October 2025. The decision also reduced the planned capacity of Nederwiek I-A from 2 GW to 1 GW to lower developers’ investment and financial risks, and eased tender rules by capping maximum liability for developers in the first two years after permit award and simplifying ranking criteria, alongside work on an offshore wind action plan and exploration of future Contract for Difference support from 2027.
