In May 2026, NextGeo was awarded a follow-on marine survey contract worth approximately EUR 9 million by TenneT for the Voordelta–Nederwiek 3 export cable corridor of the Nederwiek 3 offshore wind grid connection. The contract is distinct from NextGeo's earlier UK-side route survey work for the associated LionLink interconnector (May 2024). The work covers geophysical and geotechnical surveys along the planned cable corridor, including seabed mapping, deep geotechnical sampling and analysis down to 40 metres, and identification of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and other seabed obstacles. Surveys will be carried out in nearshore and tidal areas within the Voordelta–Nederwiek 3 zone, with completion scheduled for Q3 2026. The export cable route includes the converter station at Standhazensedijk in the municipality of Geertruidenberg — the preferred alternative selected in early 2025. The cable follows the inland waterway route through the Voordelta, Haringvliet, Hollands Diep, and Amer. The Nederwiek 3 zone will house new offshore wind capacity plus LionLink (the GB-NL interconnector). Construction is expected to start in 2027 and complete in 2031.
