On 12 February 2025, TenneT reported that the Noordzeeboulevard on the Maasvlakte would be closed until the end of 2025 to allow installation of underground electricity cables for the Net op zee Nederwiek 2 connection, marking the start of onshore cable installation works between the Maasvlakte landfall and the onshore grid for the future Nederwiek offshore wind farms, including the planned Nederwiek II site.
