In 2014, Aberdeenshire Council granted onshore planning permission for the Moray East Offshore Wind Farm's onshore transmission infrastructure, authorising the c. 34 km buried export cable corridor from landfall up to the new onshore substation at New Deer in Aberdeenshire that connects to the National Grid. This local-authority TCPS consent is ancillary to the Scottish Ministers s36 grants (Stevenson 14 Mar 2014, MacColl 19 Mar 2014, Telford 27 Nov 2019), which together authorise the offshore generating station itself.
