Next Geosolutions (NextGeo) is leading the Temporary Consortium (RTC) awarded by Terna on 10 April 2026 to deliver preliminary marine survey and environmental characterisation services for the Milano–Montalto HVDC submarine cable corridor. NextGeo holds approximately 84% of the consortium and acts as lead contractor; partners CoNISMa, Poliservizi Srl and CIBM hold the remaining stakes. The RTC ranked first on combined technical-economic scoring in the open European procedure (GUCE notice S 102/2025 – 345476, launched 28 May 2025), capturing the maximum award value of over €28 million. NextGeo's scope spans high-precision geophysical corridor surveys, shallow geotechnical site investigation and benthic environmental characterisation along the approximately 280 km submarine route between Montalto di Castro (Lazio) and Avenza (Massa-Carrara, Tuscany). The deliverables will provide the detailed seabed morphology, stratigraphy, sediment and benthic-community data required to refine cable routing, finalise burial and protection design, and support Terna's authorisation submission to MASE under DL 239/2003. Field operations are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2026 and will deploy multiple survey vessels across nearshore and offshore sections of the corridor. The contract is among the largest preliminary marine site-investigation packages awarded in the Italian HVDC pipeline and represents a major engagement for NextGeo, an Euronext Growth Milan-listed marine geosciences specialist.
