In March 2026, National Grid Ventures (NGV) and TenneT Netherlands — the two transmission system operators co-developing LionLink — signed an updated Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to advance the hybrid Anglo-Dutch interconnector toward a final investment decision. The agreement formalises how the two TSOs will jointly progress LionLink and covers procurement arrangements, governance, planning and transparency on projected costs ahead of construction. The new JDA builds on the original April 2023 development agreement, reflecting the maturing co-development structure as the project approaches the planned DCO application and signals the partners' alignment on a path to FID. LionLink will provide point-to-point UK–Netherlands interconnection while also connecting to the planned Nederwiek 3 offshore wind farm, with up to 2 GW of capacity and a target commissioning in the early 2030s.
