Fugro Netherlands Marine BV won a contract from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) to develop an Integrated Ground Model (IGM) and a Geotechnical Interpretative Report for the IJmuiden Ver offshore wind farm zone in the Dutch North Sea. The work was commissioned to provide ground understanding of sufficient accuracy to support preliminary foundation design and wider constructability planning for wind farm development within the zone, which includes the IJmuiden Ver Gamma-B site. Under the assignment, Fugro’s deliverables were to be produced using the results of ongoing geophysical work in the wind farm zone, and then used as a key input to plan and de-risk the subsequent geotechnical campaign that would validate the geological model and confirm soil engineering properties. The resulting IGM and interpretative reporting were intended to help developers progress geotechnical foundation design activities and other general design and installation requirements, including considerations relevant to cable installation. RVO stated that the outputs would be made available to participants in the concession tenders for IJmuiden Ver. The reporting timeline indicated that the deliverables would be provided to tender participants by no later than the fourth quarter of 2022.
