Marine warranty survey services for installation of three 2 GW export cable systems (IJmuiden Ver Beta, IJmuiden Ver Gamma, Nederwiek 2); cables combined over 500 km.
ABL was awarded a contract by offshore transmission system operator TenneT to provide marine warranty survey (MWS) services supporting the installation of high-voltage export cable systems within TenneT’s Dutch 2 GW offshore grid programme. The scope covers three grid connections, including the IJmuiden Ver Gamma connection that will evacuate offshore wind generation via 525 kV HVDC export cables to the Maasvlakte landfall and onshore conversion infrastructure. Under the agreement, ABL was responsible for the technical review and approval of documentation, procedures, and drawings associated with the warranted marine activities, as well as performing suitability surveys. ABL’s German operation also provided personnel for on-site attendance during fabrication and loadout and offshore attendance to review and approve warranted transportation and installation operations, aligning the execution with the requirements of the marine warranty process. The MWS support was intended to run through 2029, providing continuity of independent assurance as TenneT progressed the export cable build and installation campaign for IJmuiden Ver Beta, IJmuiden Ver Gamma, and Nederwiek 2. Across the three projects combined, the export cable systems exceed 500 kilometres in length and form part of the 6 GW export capacity being delivered under the programme.
