Heerema Fabrication Group began fabrication of the jacket foundation for the IJmuiden Ver Beta 2 GW HVDC offshore platform on 5 September 2025, marked by a first-steel-cut ceremony at HFG's shipyard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. The jacket is being built as one of three planned structures under TenneT's standardised 2 GW programme for offshore grid connections, on behalf of the Seatrium and GE Vernova consortium that holds the overarching platform contract. The structure measures approximately 90 metres in length and 43 metres in width and weighs more than 10,000 tonnes, reflecting the scale of the new 2 GW HVDC offshore grid infrastructure designed to transmit large volumes of offshore wind power to shore using fewer platforms and cables than previous-generation connections.
