On 6 May 2026, during the Q1 2026 results call, Ørsted confirmed that Hornsea 4 has been moved back into active development after its May 2025 discontinuation "in its then current form". CFO Trond Westlie said the project is "moving forward well and according to plan" and that the company will be able to participate in the UK CfD Allocation Round 9 (AR9, bid submission expected late 2027) and onward rounds. Ørsted continues to retain the project's underlying rights — Hornsea 4 seabed, the existing grid connection agreement, and the Development Consent Order — and is using these as the basis for redevelopment. The decision reverses the May 2025 announcement to terminate supply-chain contracts and not deliver under the AR6 CfD: that historical position remains true for AR6, but Hornsea 4 is once again being managed as an active pre-revenue project in Ørsted's UK proprietary pipeline, alongside other proprietary seabed opportunities in Korea, Australia, and elsewhere.
